Why do you thing this is such a universal thing that span all across Asian and Africa, even in societies that were never colonized.

Is it genetic because during early human ages, Slightly paler skin absorbs Vitamin D better than darker skin, also it is assumed automatically that paler skin people work indoors thus are wealthier.

the paler your skin is, the more likely you are to get skin cancer.

Look what's happening to Aussies. They have the highest rates of cancer cause they're white boys who live in one of the hottest continents on Earth, barring India. Of course they can't handle the Sun.

Be glad your skin has evolved to protect itself from the extremely high UV radiation found in our lands

Also skin cancer rates of Israel.

Those rarely prove that kikes don't belong in that region.

I think it's because of the following reasons:

1. Darker colours are often associated with negative traits like dirt, filth, danger, etc.

2. Historically, poorer people had to work outside in the sun, which made them tanned, associating skin fairness with higher status.

3. As far as I know, White people have very even skin tones. Brown and Black people on the other hand have various shades of brown all over their body.

4. Fair skinned people look better when they are blushing. I guess it's because red/pink goes well with light colours and it is more visible.

These are just my observations.

But both of them have different facial structure so this is not the best comparison. Also, both are ugly.

Fair skin makes your features look sharper. That being said I think you can somewhat compensate it by having good lighting.

Also less sun damage to your skin, the healthier you'll look(this tend to also mean fairer skin tone = healthier skin).

That's a bunch of soyntific reasons I could find. Maybe the rest of it could be cultural.

its easier to quickly distinguish the facial expressions of a fair skinned person, its the difference between seeing a sketch of a person, and having to label parts of the diageam given in the question paper
