Ok ananwas, me along with my team are partaking in IRoCU short for Isro Robotics Challenge. I will be updating in this thread what we are trying to to do, and I would also like suggestions from any and every ananwa here.
Current Problems I need to tackle (Descending priority)
1. Visual SLAM
I need a way to calculate drone's motion on the basis of a single camera feed.
2. Yellow line (boundary detection)
We also need to check for the boundary somehow. This needs to happen on a small low performance board. Either a raspberry Pi4, (no accelerator), Arduino Nano, or an esp32 based board.
3. Feature matching, capture image and match against given feature photo.
4. Keep track of entire movement, and head back to base station after everything.
All this needs to happen autonomously.
Can we pull this off? Highly unlikely according to me. Software will be the death of us. But still, no point in not trying. Suggest

no sir. Our problem statement is as follows:
Make a drone
Make a base station.
Have the drone autonomously navigate the arena, and dock with the base station.
Next step: autonomousky transfer seed images from the base station to the drone. Interface we need to decide and build ourselves. Wired/wireless both are supported.
After this, the drone should autonomously fly off in the atena. And compare ground to the seed images. Then note the relative coords of the identified matching feature. After this, it goes back to base station and initiates transfer of data from the drone onboard comp to the base station.
During flight, the drone and base station will have no communication between them.
GPS is not allowed for navigation. Obv since mars has no gps satellites.

Each battery takes 7 hours to charge.
All for what? meagre 4 minutes of flight time.
As for the camera, the current round does not require camera and visual sensing thingies, so we can float for now. I don't think the project is going to move forward much. Especially with current hardware we have. Our FC board has a bug that limits it's flash to 1MB. This low amount of flash can't hold extra features camera forwarding or other thangs. What I mean by that is we are going to fail the next round, regardless of passing the qualifier round of not. (last date for submission of qualifying round is today)
