Why not just use absolute values for deviations and take the arithematic mean for it? What's so special with root mean square? Why not something else like root mean 4th,6th, etc.? Explain to someone who only has class 12 level math knowledge

It always returns a positive value for one and its more 'accurate' than mean square error (due to the sqroot). Its easier to work with
