Securing India’s Chicken Neck
As Bangladesh’s radical shift deepens, India must brace for challenges to the Siliguri Corridor from hostile powers and respond with vigilance and unity
A lot has been said, written and discussed on the recent, not-so-pleasant ousting of Sheikh Hasina and the subsequent slippage of Bangladesh in the hands of anti-development radicals. However, the most critical aspect that’s emerging is that the USA is now jointly with Pakistan and China is trying to deliver a strategic blow to India, all for their different respective reasons through Muhammad Yunus, who is acting as a trusted pawn in their hands because he took that ‘paty’ money by hook or crook. He doesn’t mind playing this dangerous game on behalf of both China and the joint team of the USA and Pakistan, as a proxy, even at the cost of self-goal bound to rattle Bangladesh’s interest in the long run, as there can not be any other country to be a true well-wisher of Bangladesh than India. This fact is well known to all the nationalists, including the Army in Bangladesh. In fact, recently Yunus has been sternly warned and advised to hold elections were the radical Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, whose unstinted support is his main source of strength. However, the taste of power is known to be a notorious aphrodisiac for such temporary fly-by-night power grabbers, who can jeopardise the national interest for the sake of their own gain.
The most provocative rhetoric in the recent past on the opening up of the Indian states of India and West Bengal, with the outside ulterior motive of including these regions into the so-called ‘Mughalistan’, a grand design of Pakistan ISI and its radical cohorts, and the over-enthusiastic support and shelter provided to these elements by China, should be an alarming wake-up call for us. India needs to realise that this is not just about Bangladesh; this is about the safety and security of the Siliguri corridor, the strategic Chicken Neck region that connects the rest of India to the Northeastern states.
In fact, PM Modi, immediately after coming to power in 2014 had given the clarion call to the ‘Look East Policy’, indicating the region emerging as the new strategic growth hub of the country. The whole world is aware of China’s focus on this sensitive and vital Indian corridor to succeed in its ever-increasing hunger to grab and then annex adjacent territories belonging to other sovereign countries like Tibet. Now it has been proving enough bait to Bangladesh to revive the troubled Maitreyi Express and other old landmarks near Bangarup to keep intact the communication corridor, which had dried up post 1971 War.
It is an important time to realise this and act with all seriousness to protect and preserve the much-endangered Siliguri Chicken Neck.
We must recall how Swami Jagatguru Sarce Vidyanda Saraswati Swank ji Maharaj once indicated this strategic region as the bridge between Bharat and the future of Asia, with its important economic and cultural implications.
The Indo-Bangladesh border region, which is extremely porous and vulnerable to all sorts of illegal immigrants, cross-border smuggling and sleeper cell movement, is increasingly becoming a matter of concern not just for the internal security of India but also for the regional peace for sure in the North Eastern parts of India and all its immediate neighbourhood countries. However, that’s a different issue which can be taken up between us later.
Coming back to the important Chicken neck corridor issue, one thing that should be consciously understood is that the Pakistan-Bangladesh Islamic terror connection and the ISI have matured to such an extent that ISI has been conveniently using India-Bangladesh borders to deploy these radical modules, provide sources and safe sanctuaries and create chaos on the ground and then exploit the volatile political situation to get its agents to wor

work on the instructions from the Axis of Evil. That's exactly what is happening in Tripura, Assam and West Bengal.
They support and back the illegal immigrants from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and then again from Bangladesh to settle down in India. All of this is part of a grand plan, which is actively supported and monitored by the ISI and Chinese handlers. Their only purpose is to alter the demography and cultural landscape of the Indian territory to gain upper hand and access over this critical corridor.
The time has come for India to realise this sinister plan and act accordingly. The various intelligence reports and government sources support in form of illegal immigrants are readily available to activate the same.
There’s a need to learn from history. If it has been seen repeatedly in Punjab, J&K etc then situations like riots, the army is not the last option but a sure option to stop such unrest. As the process of calculated chaos continues, we need to put a stop on such attempts by a united action — this includes civil society members, ex-servicemen, bureaucracy, intelligence officers and security forces. We need to reassert the primacy of Indian laws, traditions and democratic ethos. We need to use the vast power of democracy in this situation and stay vigilant.
It’s time for all of us to step up and rise above petty politics to secure this vital region. This is not just a call to action but a solemn duty to the nation. India has faced threats in the past and has always emerged stronger. This time too, with the right mix of diplomacy, intelligence and internal solidarity, we will protect our nation’s strategic lifeline and ensure that the Chicken Neck corridor is never threatened again.
With China,Pakistan, and radical groups stepping up their influence, India must combine diplomacy, intelligence, and internal solidarity to protect its strategic lifeline.
