In IPC, while reading about 376, many judgements say that rape is such a heinous matter related to the modesty of a woman that no woman would dare lie about getting raped because her izzat will be ruined in her society. Which is why if a woman accuses someone of rape, the law presumes that she is telling the truth untill the stage of evidence of course.
It might be true about olden days, but now the scenario is vastly different. Most such cases are filed for extortion of money.
