Maybe a real time system whose entire purpose is to track all the tenders, people involved - the past state, new state, ongoing state so on....one can just open and track how the projects are fairing.....

At the end system is as good as the people this is the underline. If people are cockroaches then no matter how good you design a system it will turn shithole. Some of these are learned, iterated and improved over generations - so maybe not now but in future things will get better.

I have hopium that most of the things we worry about are gonna get resolved naturally and things will remain messy as it's democracy but eventually everything works out - based on certain prerequisites i have (you can call it bias).
Though sometimes one has to take make push through to start the cycle of better things - for city infra it feels we are yet to make such push. Central/state/tier 3 governance so on.
Who knows i feel i have gone astray and not able to come back to the actual topic now.

We had a case in his court back in 2022. It was festive season. Our client was already on bail and was with his family, attending a wedding ceremony unable to attend the court on the date of his hearing. So we moved an exemption application for him which is basically a leave application which allows an accused to miss a court hearing after his lawyer files the said application. We told the judge that the accused was unable to attend the court because it was his nephew's wedding. Normally, the judges allow exemption applications in such scenarios. But the mc judge got very angry at us and asked us to video call the accused in front of him. We video called the client and the judge started lecturing and rebuking him while the poor guy was sitting in the family function. It was very humiliating experience for both of us. April 2023 comes and the guy gets suspended by the High Court in a corruption scandal. August 2023 comes and the ED arrests him.
Now he has to sometimes move his OWN exemption applications in the same court where he once rejected ours.
