In technicality some dalit are Hindus, but muslim do actually target dalit women frequently, since they are less protected thanks to weak financial backgrounds.
Dalit girls, specially underage one also don't get support from OBC families the same way the UC Hindus and other OBC'z do. This all just leads to most of dalit girls converting to islamic faith, or worse, just being ran through by bunch of them. Since Muslims are also protected under the prejudice based acts, Dalits can't complain against the Muslims either, it's brutal.
The one case in Karnataka, where four muslims raped the poor dalit girl over and over in public, was straight fucked up. When the brother of the dalita tried to fight them off, they beat him up first, stripped him naked, and made the dalit boy wear a garland of leather shoes, and proceeded to fuck his sister in front of him. I think people don't understand that "devdasi" means "God's Servant", it was kind of reserved for low caste, specifically the untouchables as they were not targeted in those groups, kind of principles that carried on to ISKON and stuff.
