In December 1947, the government of Pakistan issued an ordinance prohibiting the movement of bhangies and dhobies towards India. The ordinance was implemented with great force in Sindh. Its objective was that these Hindu communities could be forced to serve the Islamic rulers of Pakistan. On January 12, 1948, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the prime minister of India, telegrammed to Liaquat Ali Khan objecting to the prohibition of movement of 'bhangies and dhobies'. The telegram is now available in File No. 26-146/48-Pak. I, of the M.E.A. & C.R.
Partition of India was accompanied with many people being promised a great future in Pakistan. Lakhs of Muslims from UP and Bihar migrated to Pakistan in the hope that in a land where Islam ruled they would be able to dominate over everyone else. Thousands of Muslim craftsmen from Rajasthan and Punjab were thrown out in the communal frenzy that rumbled Punjab.
The leaders of the Muslim League provided lofty assurances of growth, prosperity and equality to Sikh leaders like Tara Singh. But, Tara Singh was wise enough to not get seduced. He moved off to India, as thousands of Sikhs and Hindus were massacred all over eastern Punjab. Wells in village of east Punjab filled up with dead bodies of Sikh women who jumped in to commit suicide rather than get into the hands of Islamists gangs which roamed around the countryside.
Many of the lower caste people were offered equality of opportunity in Pakistan but they soon realised that the Muslim people of Pakistan had no desire to offer anyone equality of any kind. Scared, they sought to escape Pakistan but were forcibly kept back. Which is where many remain till today.
In east Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the majority of christians are bhangies. As Asad Zia reported for the Express Tribune about the position of these social groups and their helplessness in Pakistan:

In a jarring similarity shared with the rest of the country, most Christians in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa perform sanitation duties. The employers may vary – the municipal government, private homes, offices, hospitals, schools, hotels, factories, and even waste companies – but the job function remains the same across provincial borders.
“Nothing changes for us,” says Masih. “We will live and die sweeping.”
When Masih speaks, he projects a certain acceptance of social realities. He has two children, lives in a small home in Cantt, and makes Rs12,000 a month, for which he is grateful. Although his children go to school, he foresees that they too will become sweepers.
“We are born for this work. The majority of Christians work as sweepers. So why should my kids expect to lead a life that is different from mine?” he questions.

“We have lived in Peshawar for centuries and have no problems as such. We perform our religious rituals in church and don’t face hurdles in that respect,” says Masih. “However, people generally don’t want to mingle with us socially.”

enabled muslim rule easily in those regions. Jats never resisted the Islamic invaders like other communities. Whole jat villages accepted islam without resistance.
Meanwhile kattar hindus like khokhars etc got entirely converted to islam despite resistng with full force because the nearby regional jats accepted islam easily.
