How did India become such a shithole if it was such a great civilization in the past? Most Indians who have never lived abroad don't even realize how terrible India is. It literally feels like an post apocalyptic society compared to US. Forget the garbage and the pollution, the public behave in such a shitty manner. It just doesn't add up how these guys' ancestors were a part of one of the greatest civilizations.

Mauryans and gupta were way more urbanized, centralized and well governed. By the time of british society was already not doing that good but british brought system was even worse, because it shifted responsibility and didn't bring up the idea of ownership.
