it's simple, i don't trust the manrega with guns, aircrafts or ships to actually put a fight after their recent debacle.
and most importantly if armed forces lose, central reseves will not be enough nor they are trained well to put a fight at a larger enemy.
this is why we should legalize arms, 1.5bn trained in handling firearms would be a great force.
imagine the level of business domestic market would sustain. it's win win for everyone.
most importantly government of india is continuing colonial era laws which was created to prevent any 1857 like revolt before it indians used to keep weapons of all sorts. it was encouraged.

people have been real comfy with the gradual mostly peaceful march of the political pendulum and rather stagnation of it.
but things are going to go bad real fast in near future.
my generic reading of the situation - i could be wrong however completely. call it a hunch.
but it's not about that, the general myopia of the forces, their defensive behaviour doesn't create much of a confident in them against the bigger rivals.
what happens when things go nuclear doesn't matter.
but think of it like 1.5mn is drastically low for an army to defend against any major invasion. if it falls the general populace is helpless.
it's more about the general helplessness of the population. that coupled with the fact that i don't have faith in the training of army in particular let alone crpf.
if given chance on tactical level civilians will outpace the armed forces. private military complex of India with 1.5bn population can serve the interest of the country. something akin to what french legion are can be created for pseudo - state offensive missions.
it solves a lot of problem, it will turn our country from defensive mode to more proactive. it will also eventually cause internal reforms in army.
we may have once in a lifetime opportunity to use 'defense threat' as a means to push for ideas of legal carry.
