tell me the specs. regardless of it, if you have no experience start with ubuntu. i myself have been using arch for a couple of years now and i have used almost every mainstream distro. trust me, go for ubuntu when starting. you can pivot to mint or debian later OR to arch as per your convinience.

Go from mint -> ubuntu -> kubuntu -> fedora -> arch or steam os one

stabiltiy:if working on huge projects and don't want regular updates to interfere:debian
codejeet:latest tech is first processed here then goes to distribution:Fedora
just to survive:no goals,just good /usable ui:mint
ubuntu version:as you mentioned old lappy, then go for xubuntu rather than kubuntu or ubuntu
as ubuntu uses gnome
kubuntu uses kde plasma
xubuntu uses xfce
these are all desktop environments,so all software/files are same, but your ui will change and resource usage is least in kubuntu(out of other buntus)

if you are sane just use fedora it works for everything
debian is good on servers
arch if you need newer packages for your server or are autistic
everything else is a meme, except for doing lfs but that is not a distro

serious foss tards are ditching fedora because they feel betrayed after IBM redhat's new licensing for RHEL, but that is not related to fedora development, they're just clowns yall should keep using it, it even has spins in almost every de and even some tilers like i3 and sway

6Qv9da
No.522868

if resource usage is a concern you should use arch with i3, uses around 300 mb

i agree on the corpo thang
if talking in these terms, bsd is the king then

Well, IBM and redhat are the premier corpo dedicated to serious linux development, and since fedora is their own daily use stream for fedora it gets those benefits too

dwm is better than i3 yaar. i have used both and its not even a matter of taste at this point. dwm is better in every metric. low resource usage for similar features as i3 and better window handling.

ubuntu

pros - none
cons - non existent power management features hence bad battery life on laptops, games won't work natively, many applications have no support either.
What will I miss from windows
plug and play convenience
>Im thinking about using good ol' ubuntu
yeah that is probably the only distro that tries to be usable and bats for hardware compatibility.

i forgot the tool but airmon or wtv it is called only uses a wordlist to brute after capturing its hash or smthing, it only works if your target is mega retarded and you have a powerful CPU or have 200 gazzilion years at your disposal

a distro is just a compilation of software, you can install them even on fucking ubuntu, they use what is convenient and at their disposal, many pen testers do use kali and blackarch tho because it comes with em preinstalled
