How come there is no hindi language in the internet outside of some facebook groups?
It's the third most spoken language in the world, yet it's so rare, the few times I see it, like how AoE2 and biomutant had hindi options, I'm geniuely surprised.

I think most hindi over the internet happens via romanized hindi, i.e hindi with english alphabet, so it registers as english in pie charts. I wouldn't be suprised if the majority of "English" discussion online is actually hindi.

It's based on what language you use as the medium of UI. Most people who have the disposable income to matter are more comfortable with English over any regional language.

Hindi is lingua franca for most people not their mother tongue. Only a section of hindi speakers learnt it as their mother tongue. Many converse in their vernacular language with family and in their home state and the kind of status conscious people who dont also are the ones who would rather use english than hindi.

Don't forget whatsapp. Facebook caters to 26 to 40% if not more share of Indian internet users. That's a pretty large number even when compared to twitter/reddit.
This is where people use devnagari script or local languages over english. On rest of the social media it's not uncommon to see, like on twitter but english does the job.
English will kill most local languages not Hindi, hindi itself is under threat but will survive due to the sheer momentum.
