check if your hdd rpm is limited to old scholl 5600 or something, there are hdd with higher rpms. Likely that your ram is limiting factor here.
ssd will indeed help. just check for crucial/wd/seagate/samung.

Even sata stuff is 4x faster than HDD in 4kb iops, but in 2026 sata too is kinda outdated
get a ssd, sata one is bad choice for os
go with gen 3/4 nvme
And if you can take risk checkout hikvision ones on amazon
also instead of 128 go with 256, you will get a gen 3 at round 4k
for ref image one is wd sata
2 is seagate 5400rpm hdd
3 is crucial gen3 nvme
