Ig godi media didn't inform you about it 😄

It's one of the most amazing projects undertaken by railway, Jammu Katra to srinagar line which started the operations or atleast trial run recently.

Train is vande bharat at probably srinagar or so station.

Lots of tunnels and bridges on the route to make the link happen. Srinagar to Kanyakumari can now be done though you will need to switch train i think at katra.

Not really railways but actually Mumbai AC Locals.

We need to build more, every public infra should have AC as a norm.

To offset any negative emission plant more trees. Use even other means if required.

no, no way yaar. Unless we can afford to get rid of the voting rights of the non net-taxpayers, we shouldn't do this.

If we do this rn they will stink up the ac coaches and other stuff with garbage to accomodate which you would require armed guards to unleash such guards with full effect you would need to make sure that these people can't affect political careers.

Otherwise you would be sitting inside an AC coach where 10 pajeets had taken a fresh shit, an hour ago. Atleast with no A/c the air flow gets to help you with getting sum fresh air that isn't mixed with goo molecules. With ac, the same air gets circulated for quite a while (even hours idk)

>no, no way yaar. Unless we can afford to get rid of the voting rights of the non net-taxpayers, we shouldn't do this.

The thing is everyone pays taxes, just not direct taxes sirs.

When i promote or talk about public infra and its need i also affirm to the fact that enforcement for those who violate the rules should be even stricter.

Like imagine singapore tier enforcement.

When i see cases of bad public and public infra i think of usa, they are kinda like us. Group of people who are barbaric - lack of enforcement of laws leading to shittier services and that's why we should be upping our enforcement against those violating the laws to prevent such things from happening.

The reason i curse car and oil lobby is because i suspect they were involved in USA for pushing things which ensured the enforcement was bad against those who violated rules, they also psyop'd that cars private = freedom, destroyed city infra. Even though newy york has pretty cool walkable ifnra still one look through maps you can see amount of area taken over by cars parking - it's a disgusting sight tbh.

Enforcement and fear of rule / law is the most important thing for the success of public infra. Anyway local AC of mumbai are always full, so expansion of services is must there. Tracks and trainsets.

net taxpayer saar.

total amt of taxes you pay (direct + indirect) - subsidies you receive ( ladli behna/PDS/skewl/kallej/loan waivers/zero int loans/sarkari hospitals/gormint subsidized dehati transportation/diesel/gas cylinder for gwareebs/awas yojna/ and adivasi benefits etc etc) = net taxes

This is interesting.

Though i disagree about its feasibility.

Usually money vs benefit comparison like that can skew and make things worse in India.

It can cause issues related to social mobility, opportunity too. A slippery slope.

Anyway that's not required.

Video of train passing over the new pamban bridge.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Pamban_Bridge

>The New Pamban Bridge (pronounced: /pɑːmbən/ romanised: pāmban) is a vertical lift railway sea bridge that connects the town of Mandapam in mainland India with Rameswaram on Pamban Island. The new bridge is constructed parallel to the old Pamban Bridge opened in 1914 and was planned to replace the same. It spans a length of 2.07 km (1.29 mi) and includes a 72 m (236 ft) vertical lifting section. It is the first vertical lift sea bridge in India and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 6 April, 2025.[1][2]

This is the final stretch between Katra to Banihal, part of entire Jammu to Baramulla railway line project, and it was also the most challenging one considering this is the final 111km stretch which involved 94km through tunnels under mountains and rest 27 major bridges and 10 minor bridges which are connecting all those tunnels.

One of the most talked about bridge among those is Chenab bridge, around 1.3km long, 360 meters above the river bed, highest railway bridge, arch bridge in the world - i think soon chinese project will surpass that record.

Once inaugurated, Kashmir will be directly connected to the rest of the India.

Currently it's like Jammu Tawi to Udhampur to Katra. Then gap and then starting from Banihal to Baramulla which was extended further to Kupwara.

>Leg 0, running 53 km from Jammu to Udhampur and completed in April 2005.[8]

>Leg 1, running 25 km from Udhampur to Katra. The section was completed on 4 July 2014.

>Leg 2, running 111 km from Katra to Banihal section has a total of 35 tunnels (includes 27 main and 8 escape tunnels). This under-construction section was completed on 13 December 2024.

>Leg 3 running 135 km from Banihal to Baramulla. The section was completed on 26 June 2013.

From DRM samastipur, Bihar is getting new Vande Metro (aka Namo Bharat Rapid Rail) and Amrit Bharat Train.

Vande Metro route,

>Jaynagar to Patna - via Darbhanga, Samastipur, Barauni, Mokama, Bakhtiyarpur.

Amrit Bharat route

>अमृत भारत ट्रेन सेवा का शुभारंभ सहरसा स्टेशन से लोकमान्य तिलक टर्मिनस (मुंबई) के लिए।

Sahrsa to Lokmanya Tilak Terminal (mumbai).

I am happy because Vande Metro are very cheap, full ac and unreserved. Total distance it is covering around 190km which is optimum for close intercity trainset - though there are complains about routes as usual.

This year budget was allocated for 50 vande metros, this is one project i hope is pushed more

>full ac

>covers close cities within like 100 to 250km distance.

>very cheap - due to unreserved nature

if they want something like rrts lite, it can be done by having dedicated tracks.

These are meant for the general coaches, price as cheap as 1rs per km, lowest earning group getting benefit thanks to the success of vande bharat.

Maintenance is important. We need more tracks and trains otherwise congestion will be same.

Pretty kino video from Netherland, it's similar to RRTS in some ways or maybe like shatabdi trains running between two cities.

The station driebergen-ziest is smaller example of multi modal type stations like the one in Ahmedabad/sabarmati for HSR, or rrts stations (not all).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HACaRm2KP6Q[embed]

I absolute love how bike centric entire infra is. Funny thing is you can see a small old video where people aboard trains would litter cups etc. on tracks.

Overall look how eyesoothing entire infra is even if small.

>>there is a system called rtis which was made my isro and railway, basically loco engine has 5g sim which constantly sends gps location acceleration speed etc etc to a website where you can download it if you have access.

From there you download the excel data, you analyse it through a software which is again provided by railway, which tell improper BPT, abrupt breaking etc etc. They are really serious about breaking and safety these days.

People who complain on why the 'railway changes are so slow',

What was Congress’s long-term plan to upgrade Indian Railways before 2014? Most of the upgrades we see today are Modi's brainchild or implemented by him.

DFC

• Before 2014: Planned in 2005, 0 km operational till 2014

• After 2014: EDFC completed, WDFC nearing completion in ~10 years (same time as planning)

High-Speed Rail (HSR)

• Before: Only proposals on paper, no execution

• After: Mumbai-Ahmedabad HSR under construction, DPRs for more corridors ongoing

Anti-Collision System

• Before: ACD trials, then abandoned

• After: Reborn as Kavach, one of the cheapest ACD in the world, now under large-scale installation

Railway Vision 2020 (to upgrade trains, stations) • Before: Announced in 2009, little to no work in the next 5 years.

Station Modernisation

• Before: PPP model failed, 0 major stations redeveloped

• After: Nationwide upgrades under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, several stations are already operational

Rolling Stock & Coaches

• Before: First LHB train in 2004, 2300 LHB coaches produced in the next 10 years (barely 100 trains), even new trains like Garib Rath, Duronto launched with old ICF coaches.

• After: Majority fleet shifted to LHB coaches (42,000+ in 10 years), safer & faster. Indigenous semi-HSR trainset Vande Bharat developed

Trainsets

• Before: No indigenous semi-high-speed train

• After: Talgo tested, then homegrown Vande Bharat built at scale

Bio Toilets

• Before: Trials since 2006; only ~11,000 bio-toilets installed (~5%) till 2014

• After: 2.45 lakh bio-toilets installed, 100% coverage by 2019-20

Electrification

• Before: ~30% network electrified, heavy diesel dependence

• After: 99%+ electrification in ~10 years

Speed Upgradation

• Before: ~5,000 km tracks at 130km/h and above, limited to premium trains

• After: ~28,000 km at 130km/h and above under Mission Raftar for all LHB trains, longest 160 km/h trials planned between New Delhi - Howrah next month, with New Delhi - Mumbai in Queue

New Tracks Laid

• Before: ~14,000km laid in 2004-14

• After: ~34,000km laid in the next 10 years

Safety Spending

• Before: Chronic under-investment

• After: ₹1 lakh crore via Rashtriya Rail Sanraksha Kosh, focused purely on safety, major tracks, singal and safety-related upgrades carried out

Most importantly, highly important projects like USBRL, connectivity to the northeast, were prioritised, which had been stuck for years.

I agree, Indian Railways is not in its best state, and there are many problems to be fixed, but trust me, if it wasn't Modi, Railways would have been in an even worse state. At least Modi has a plan and vision, he is fast-tracking things, and the number speaks for themselves.

Other than trainsets, the biggest event happening with Railways is Kavach system. To see a world class system like this can be built and on top of it, iterative development from Kavach 2.0 to 4.0 and later 5.0. This is a jewel in the crown of Ashwini Vaishnaw even though work started before it, having a technocrat like him helped.

We need more technocrats, he is bundled with too many responsibilities. Semiconductor, Railways, MeiTy(handling semiconductor and ai mission).
