Indian cities need more BRTs and Metro lite

People have habit of reluctant to change and crib, they will oppose metro, hsr etc. etc. and use even the slightest bad experience to declare entire projects as failure.

But once the projects are completed, they start running amok trying to apply the same everywhere.

Delhi metro network was one such example, it was termed as travel for 'premium' class so on. Now every second city wants it. RRTS too to an extent but thankfully mostly limited to bigger cities.

One thing is lack of foresight, other is politics and just being the bad faith elements.

Now coming to all of this, my focus is on the metro network. Most of the cities need public ac buses, dedicated routes, proper bus stands and slightly bigger cities are more suited for metro lite network.

Most cities don't even have basic bus stand, it's crumbling or eating dirt. I have been travelling a bit in northern parts of the india, it's hilarious how bad the bus stands are. Covered in dirt, broken stands, rusting iron, in general not suitable for anyone let alone the timings etc. for routes of the buses and their status.

Chennai is probably one of the good examples of decent bus infra, ahmedabad has BRTs which should be expanded further.

So yes, people need to push for better bus services, stands, dedicated app to track the buses. And if they want something more than that, shill for metro lites.

the need for suburban rail is more urgent than for upgrading bus infra. Bus operators are doing quite well
