What is your opinion on picrel?
Although i wouldnt say that india ranks so low, i would still say we arent as free as we would like to think. I believe we are the least free democracy. Only outright dictatorships are worse than us

It ranks low on these indices because these rankings think "saying bad words about the most powerful leader without getting beaten up" means freedom.
Similar thing happens with "malnutrition" rankings btw.

In Kaango you have warlords in the US you have government + police + tax officers bureaus etc working together to rape you.
In the end countries like India , Congo are a lot freeer.
Nobody is going to bother you with some made up rules and most lawmakers will rather use common sense to deal with issues.
That also means that the quality of life depends highly on the quality of the lawmakers since they can make up any law they want as they see fit.

Recent cases of journalists being dead in jharkhand and uttarakhand iirc shows that while upper echelon of journalists do have speech preserved, grassroot level journalists still are under the mercy of dominant gunda (mla) of that area and any attempt to go against him might cost him his life.
