>be Salman Rushdie

>born in a Kashmiri Muslim family

>become the most prestigious Indian author

>write satanic verses and piss off Muslims

>Fearing unrest, the Rajiv Gandhi government banned the importation of the book into India.

>In 1989, Supreme Leader of Iran Ruhollah Khomeini declared a fatwa against Rushdie, resulting in several failed assassination attempts on the author

>On 12 February 1989, 10,000 protesters gathered against Rushdie and the book in Islamabad, Pakistan. Six protesters were killed in an attack on the American Cultural Center, and an American Express office was ransacked.

>Multiple translators of the book were also killed by assassins

And did I mention his dating life?

I can’t even put to words on how big the satanic verses controversy was.

You should check it out.

Protests were held throughout the world and people were literally killed. More than 20ish people have died cuz of Salman Rushdie kek.

I wonder if people even read the book or not. I can’t imagine 80s Indians and Pakis reading an English novel.

he survived multiple assassination attempts, and is on both Al-qaeda and hezbollah's hit lists. Can't get more based than that

I haven’t read the book but from what I could gather is that “satanic verses” itself if a blasphemous term which refers to few Quranic verses in which Md praises some pagan goddess. Islamic scholars believe it was written by Md under some jinns influence but western orientologits dubbed it as being written by Satan.

Rushdie uses it as some sort of magic metaphor (his books are of the magic realism genre) and he name drops a shit ton of prophets and angels in a fictional way. That pissed most people.

Also it calls Mohammad as Mahound which is super offensive

Lookup Rangeela Rasool. Muzzies chimped out when they were 90% illiterate.

>The book was considered highly controversial due to its satire of the marital life of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.

>Its publication led to reforms in India's penal code that made blasphemy illegal[8][9] and may have contributed to promote the partition of India.[2]

>the book wasn’t criticising Islam, it was a directly retelling the story in an offensive way

>it being titled satanic verses was a literal way of calling verses of Quran as satanic

>he wasn’t some Christian or white author who was a critic, this was a brown Muslim who literally betrayed his religion in front of the world

Also it was during the time Iran was peak muslim, the fatwa gave his book much publicity

it must be something more offensive than it sounds from your post. Maybe one day I will download his books to read.
