How many of you were aware of that. I am not a bhosadpiller but i am surprised at times that even well educated indians fall for 'sone ki chidiya' meme.

India was always one of the most populated places on the earth. Since the Mauryans and Gupta times. It was more centralized and prosperous until islamic age when it stagnated and degradation started. Atleast the centralized empires mughals were bad overall.
Estimates of population are always dubious, but the based on data and production gangetic plains were accounting for major chunk of the population during early period.

what's the surprise here? there is a direct biological and economical correlation between how poor you are and how many offsprings you produce.
not counting pisslam as it's a special needs case. although it still applies to them.

The point is that british rule actually doubled the population contrary to all the 'richest country turned into starving famished beggars by angrezi looteras' image presented to us. I can see normies and ganwars falling for meme but even well educated indians fall for that meme. British rule brought modern medicine, improved public sanitation measures, greater urbanisation and connectivity due to telegraph, railways, canals, bridges which facilitated movement of food to famine risk areas, famine codes.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Famine_Codes.
All these measures increased population.

Its hard to believe how low iq people here are. Retard, greater population before contraceptives has always been a sign of higher food availability, higher degree of civilisation and urbanisation.

Are you retard or something? Mauryans and Guptas had a system to handle famines.
And human society as a whole benefitted from the modern medicines and it would have reached Indians with and without colonialism.
Best way to understand the situation is how India growth practically increased soon after the colonialism. Our population, literacy, everything increased faster than it was during colonialism.
>british built muh infrastructure
They built to exploit and export the raw material and destroyed all the workers in India and forced them into farming for raw materials.
>improved public sanitsation measures
>urbanization
kek same period where british had 'civil lines' where non Indian were restricted.
India was more mobile and urbanized for its time during Mauryans and Guptas.
British period had odd cases where they needed to sustain their colony but general public was a colonial subject.

And you are gaslighting and lying because the population growth was nothing spectacular and it was much faster after 1951 post independence but major growth came after our own green revolution, dairy revolution.
What sort of subhuman you have to be to act as an apologist for colonialists.

Who denied that? But it was as per the level of tech of their era and no way close to tremendous improvements in famine control made during british raj. Prior to improved connectivity, food was grown locally at village level and surplus from distant regions wasnt possible to transport to famine stricken areas.
And how are your other points relevant? Ofc british raj had its flaws. Not denying that and we did even better upon independence and are even better in 2026 but british raj had higher living standards than any pre industrial empire due to sheer power of tech and modern medicine brought by brits. There wasnt even a single famine since 1900 except for bengal famine due to british famine codes. Normies talk of british era as if it somehow made us poor and that we were richer before when in reality it was an improvement. India got richer than ever before.

>They built to exploit and export the raw material and destroyed all the workers in India and forced them into farming for raw materials.
This again is a myth. Brits for example imported much of their cotton from egypt and US than india. Indian textiles and steel industry grew even larger during british raj. And indian industrialists thrived during raj. British empire was a free market trade based empire. What indian independence activists complained about was free market. Britain outproduced india due to industrialisation and we became a market. Indians werent as quick to adapt so india sought protectionist policies to catch up.There was no ghazni style plunder of resources happening lol.

Came for trade stayed to rule. Empires conquer and rule. Thats their job. Not all empires are equal tho. An empire can be an extractive enterprise or an entity that governs its territories responsibly resulting in collective benefit through trade, security and centralisation.
