this has real impact. apart from the type of people being catered to.
Nowadays most railway stations have been improved drastically in terms of quality.
Trains like shatabdi, vande bharat, or most coaches above 3ac including it are better maintained - i don't know about sleeper or general coaches.
As other anon mentioned in metro stations controlled exit and entries which is not the case in indian railways so it's a bit more chaotic.
Metros and new stations being well maintained is a while pill which proves that if people get good service they will take care of it. And maintenance as a whole is not cared enough in railways - but this should be pushed further.
