Was reading this declassified CIA doc concerning the implications of total Indian victory over Pakistan 1971, not just the East but troops shifted to the west to invade Pakistan with such force that its armoured corps and air force literally cease to exist...
Very rational scenario, predicts breakthroughs in Shakargarh and Sialkot, makes a lot of sense to me, and total destruction of the Pakistani estalishment...
Pakistan would cease to exist and instead we would see 4 to 5 trial warlord states, which we could easily fund and posit against each other into a grinding forever war that kills any chance of them ever becoming a threat to us as they depend on our gibs for their survival.

Did a wg, a democratic India could certainly do this, but the refugee crisis and the "garrison-state" concerns are real.
