USSR collapsed because communism in the USSR was worse than capitalism in the first world in the first place. The reason former states want communism back is because former USSR's economy got decimated by the transition to capitalism and is now a shadow of what it was 30 years ago. No wonder the life got shittier.

Here's my version,
Total surveillance... everyone keeps a watch on everyone, enhanced by AI and cameras, even the members of the party and the premier is surveilled except maybe a bathroom and someone's bedroom... The state, society, religion, God and life itself become one, people don't live in a country or a society, they live in the state, they are the state, it's like a military establishment total discipline is expected of everyone, being in the state is the job.
Families do not exist, 2 persons can love each other and choose to be one another's companion for life but they don't marry... children are expected to be raised by the state in professional institutions to prepare them to be future loyal members of the clockwork that the state is.
Loyality, honour and being useful to the state is drilled as the one and only goal of life into everyone's head since birth.
Total Eugenics, everyone undesirable is killed off, there are genetic elimination rounds, every generation the bottom 50% percent of the society are castrated... and they love it, keeping the state's HR quality and upward graph is everyone's duty and as I said families don't exist, anyone younger than you is to be treated as your child and anyone older as your parent, your family is the state, not even the leader, he is like a guiding force but he himself worships the overall state. People are not members they are the state.
And the purpose of the state is to wage war as efficiently as possible, nothing else matters, everyone is the part of the war effort, this means no consumer markets or anti war sentiments, anything that happens in the state is to support this goal or is a mere distraction. And when everyone else has been defeated, the purpose is technological progress at all cost.
Why is this the best system?
Because it resembles the natural tribal state of humanity just expanded on an industrial scale.
