Are there any universities in India good enough for doing research and professorship in a CS-related field? I did masters in America but parents won't allow me to stay there (or go anywhere abroad) because of the political situation and the global hate against Indians. I know that most Indian universities have too much fraud and exploitation of PhDs and postdocs. Should I just give up on academia and get an industry job instead? How is IIIT-H? I heard it is more modernized compared to IITs. I don't care about rankings, I just want to join a university with a similar academic culture that you find in US universities.

Some Reddy physicsfag on this chan was saying that the top Indian universities (IISER, IIT, IIIT, TIFR etc) are as good as US universities but rank poorly in international rankings simply because they are new and don't have enough departments. Was he coping?

In Amreeka I call professors by name because they are hardly 10-15 years older than me. I did research projects with them and they treat you like a colleague rather than a subordinate. I don't wanna call some chomu professor "sir" and act like he pays for my food.
What's your opinion on IIITH? Have you done PhD/Masters in India yourself, just curious? My friends who did it said it's a complete waste of time.
