Upper indus valley(sapta sindhu) indians are og aryans.
Bengalis, biharis, jharkhandis, chattisgarhis, odias are aryanized dravidian-austroasiatic hybrids.
Sindhis, gujaratis, marathis, madhya pradeshis are aryanized dravidians.

you are right that sapt sindhu was 'indo-aryan' speaking.
i am not sure about the relationship of prakrit - vedic sanskrit.
what we know for certain that dravidian languages have lots of loan words from prakrit.
the spread of prakrit or prevalence is mostly due to likes of ashoka, or even earlier NBPW culture likely. we don't know much about NBPW culture but this is the one which wiped out PGW culture.

They both are just ancient indo aryan dialects. There were several prakrit dialects spoken by aryan groups. Vedic sanskrit happens to be the one which the Kurus(indo aryans of haryana and west UP) used to compose vedas. Vedic religion was the creation of Kurus and was adopted by other indo aryans and over time even by dravidians of south.
