If you can't get an aircraft right even after a quarter of a century has passed, its over. The J10 had its first flight in 1998 (3 years before Tejas) and by 2026, china has built 600+ aircraft and exported it to multiple countries. The Tejas is the poster child of Indian incompetence.

Bhosdike the GE404 lines literally closed by subhuman generals and mod babus didn't give a follow on order to Tejas mk1 FOC. Even pakis had more order to fucking JF17 block 1 which didn't even have a fly by wire type system. FOC was comparable if not better to block 2.
Tejas mk1a is the only aesa radar based aircraft in IAF future inventory with capability to easily link with any weapon IAF wants, be part of their network.
HAL has issues but if they gave even 1bn to kaveri we wouldn't have to beg americans for engines.
Entire ecosystem created by HAL through Tejas program has ensured that we can rollout Tejas mk2 and if they give budget AMCA in less than 5 years if government and cockroaches at IAF are serious.
But every indigenous program is set up for failure, there's no CCS approval for AMCA but see how quickly files moved for 50bn+ worth of tincans which are rafales.
