Linux is good, swap to Ubuntu tons of guide on yt
You can dualboot and run both as well

>dual boot ubuntu and windows
>download ubuntu 24 lts from website
>download balenaethcher
>then take a pendrive and open balenaetcher and flash the ubuntu file you downloaded into it.
>now search for partition something in search bar, ig it was disk management or something, there create a partition (100gb) atleast.
>now restart your pc and press f2 continuously to open bios and disable secure boot in it, after that from boot options you will see your pendrive, click on it and open it
>setup will start
>choose partition you made in setup and let it install. that is it
>after ubuntu is installed remove pendrive and you will see there are different options now. ubuntu will be top and then 1 or 2 for testing purposes and then windows manager.
that is it. if you have any issues, post here, i am active rn and can help you.

why ubuntu, anon? i've heard it's not good for first timers. if it's true, are there are any beginner friendly distributions that'd make it easier for me to switch over?

Mint is good because it is Windows-like and fairly simple

yeah, i’ll test the distro first through a live usb and see how it feels with my hardware. now i’m leaning towards mint/zorin since ubuntu seems to have mixed opinions and mint looks more straightforward
as for dual boot, i only have one drive so i’ll be extra careful with partitioning & backup. if it gives me too much trouble i might just run linux in a vm for now or wait till i can get a second drive

its not true, i have used manjaro before and xubuntu , it doesnt matter honestly, you will face issues and you will eventually get rid of them. ui is pretty simple, there is a store to download software, so not a problem, also snap and all, i never understood it in manjaro so i went for ubuntu.

Pajeet, live usb is not good for testing performance., It won't have the best drivers for your hardware

since your work is based on google workflow and you are skeptical abt loonix, u can always try wsl in that case
get the feel of the CLI on wsl and see if u want to shift. nonetheless it is better to shift to loonix than shitdows
