Share resources on how to optimise your phone and Android. How to avoid detection and what is the best course of action to take as soon as you get your new Android. Anything and everything is appreciated.

What are the best browsers, what are some apps we should avoid. More importantly what are the apps that are a must. Basically a general list of guidelines for everyone to follow. I see a lot of those for PC, never for Android mobiles.

Thank you anon. I think Lain posting should be mandatory on this board.

Given the activity on this board, idk when it'd be that some knowledgeable anon comes around and posts his android setup.
Here's what I use. I think people here probably already know about these.
Browser
Firefox + uBlock Origin is still the best android browser imo.
Cromite
Brave (never used it myself but all my classmates use it)
Studies and Focus
Anki
Tomato (F-Droid, pomodoro timer)
WHPH
Tho honestly if you are disciplined enough, you don't need any of these apps. It's for undisciplined folks like me.
Document Readers (epubs and pdfs)
Moon+ Reader
Lithium
Media Player
mpvEx
VLC might be good but I haven't used it in a long time. I used to use PlayIt in 2022 when I started watching anime but it's ridden with ADs.
Music Player
Musicolet (local music library)
OuterTune
Harmony
File Management
ZArchive (archive)
LocalSend (LAN file sharing)
Social Media
I don't think you should keep any sm installed on your phone unless absolutely necessary. I only keep WhatsApp because of classmates and university.
There are a lot more applications listed here: https://fmhy.pages.dev/mobile

I guess I will try them all. Wish we had archive for thread like these.

I am indisciplined as fuck so this is very nice tbh. I was hoping there would be more stuff to make sure to make sure personal identity could stay safe. These are nice too.

Moon+ Reader

Can we get these on playstore? If not, what is a safe site to get these apps from? Are these all that better than default reader? I like simplicity of Google pdf reader, but I want to upgrade.

mpvEx
>VLC might be good but I haven't used it in a long time. I used to use PlayIt in 2022 when I started watching anime but it's ridden with ADs.
I just use default video player that comes with my android atp
>Music Player
I stick to default for this one too
Musicolet (local music library)
>OuterTune
>Harmony
Would check these out.
>File Management
ZArchive (archive)
Based, I use these two archive stuff or extract them into a centralised folder. Helped me a lot when playing emulated games for GBA/GBC.
>LocalSend (LAN file sharing)
>Social Media
>I don't think you should keep any sm installed on your phone unless absolutely necessary. I only keep WhatsApp because of classmates and university.
If i wish to use social media, like Twitter or say instagram, how do I do it. Without being in a constant threat of it being doxxed or those who run that platform, leeching my data.
>There are a lot more applications listed here: https://fmhy.pages.dev/mobile
Ok, appreciate this.

yes
>moon+, lithium better than default reader
Idk whether the default reader can read epubs well. Both these have highlighting, comments, notes, dictionaries etc. If you need these features then these are good.
>check out outertune and harmony
Do try them. My friends use Harmony and they say it's better than spotify when comparing free features. Both scrape yt music tho so the recommendations might not be as good as Spotify's and sometimes the recommendations repeat too.
>how to use sm without being doxxed
As long as you do not share personal information like name, address, contact info nobody can doxx you. It's only when too much of your personal life is exposed online that people can doxx you. You can try checking how much information there is about you online by just searching your name online. Very often educational and govt institutions have files open to public that can be accessed with simple google dorking.
>how to stop corpos from stealing your data
Idk much about protecting yourself against the giants brother. I got spotify premium november last year so you can tell I am not particularly paranoid about privacy. But here are resources you can refer to:

Quite frankly, I had Spotify for many years too, and it is only now that I started caring. I don't always stay close to my pc. But my phone is with me 24/7. As a result I think bhachaners should focus on how to be hygienic with their devices that they interact with regularly. Thanks for the resources.

Trvke. A clean device with a clear purpose will help you with doom scrolling and procrastination.
NOTE: for decreasing screentime
One more application I just remember is this app called Gray Switch. If your phone has no setting to toggle complete gray scale mode, this app can do that for you. You do need to enable a permission that can only be enabled using ADB.

Converts all colors to grayscale. The idea is that seeing no colors will decrease the appeal of doom scrolling and you'd be forced to do something else.

There are quite a few good launchers for that.
FOSS:
- KISS Launcher
- Kvaesitso (really comfy)
I have used only these two and stuck with the 2nd one for the longest. If you are fine downloading modded APKs, then I suggest you Niagara Launcher (modded pro version). Pair it with a live wallpaper and it'd look absolutely stunning. But honestly, even without mod Niagara is a very good launcher.
However, the best android customization I have seen online were made using KLWP and related Kustom apps. I couldn't figure out how to use it or even how to install a mod version of it. You can look it up and try.

niagara is launcher (home screen app. remove everything hide everything, use just the search function)
Newpipe is youtube alternative frontend. again remove everything hide everything use subscriptions as main feed and large refresh threshold
Musicolet is local music system. listen to locally downloaded songs from spotdl (script on pc install from pip). again hide everything in ui
FDroid is FOSS playstore alternative. self explanatory
Firefox is browser, UB is extension, unhook is extension. hide as much as you can
