Is my psu not compatible with my mobo?

I got this new psu to replace my old dying one, but the pc won't post. I've tried every troubleshooting method. Mobo is an ancient h55 lga1156 btw.

Op here.

Nope. Returned the cooler master psu and bought a new ₹500 Zebronics psu. One thing that I noticed was I had the same problem as the one from the below link (with the cmos jumper), and the solution also matches my situation.

https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/pc-wont-boot-until-i-clear-cmos.3131009/#post-19442394

I'm not in the mood to spend any more money on this system, maybe only if I got something to replace the i3 540 cpu with an i5 or i7 of that same generation.

did the Zebronics psu fix your issue

It did. The cheapo one does not have any protection built in it, cooler master did and that's why it refused to post. Most probably, power from the psu is going somewhere where it doesn't belong and the fact that the pc won't post when the cmos jumper is set to normal points to the conclusion that I have to deliberately give my mobo amnesia to make it forget that it has problems in its nervous system.
