Its crazy that nobody seems to care how much trouble we're in. What's worrying is that BJP despite all their atmanirbhar/viksit bharat messaging have barely done anything to change the situation.
You can blame General Electric all you want but our subhuman babus asked them to restart their supply chains and proposed 80 pc ToT which is laughable. Of fucking course they will take a gorillion years to deliver.
Modi has overseen the induction of a grand total of 36 fighter jets. That's it. That's where it ends. LCA Mk1a will take forever to induct. Mk2 and AMCA seem as good as dead. PAF with 1/10th the budget will mog IAF in the coming years. Where do we even go from here?

pakistani air force is every proactive, they realized s400 was a threat and pushed them back so they have gotten new SOJ based on bombardier aircraft platform with the help of muslim greeks.
army seems to be more proactive about drone, i read on dfb that they given order of almost 5000 crores on drones in recent times - idk if you are interested look up.
it's amazing for pakistan considering they forced a country 5x of their size to think about them.
let's hope GE issue gets resolved. ideally kaveri should have been part of parallel program.

HAL was warned beforehand that the F404 engine production line was going to slow down. Tejas is the only aircraft present using the GE F404 engine. If GE was purposely delaying engine deliveries like HAL claims, then they should have dragged GE to court for breaking the rules of the original agreement. GE engine delivery issue is just hogwash by HAL to cover up their incompetence. If GE was as bad as HAL claims, why was it chosen to supply the F414 for AMCA?

you are clearly mixing up chronology and facts about lots of things and deliberately lying about certain events.
>hal was warned before F404 engine idle
you are wrong here, HAL needs to get order only then it can place order for engines. GE404 assembly line closed around 2016 since there was no further order. the Tejas mk1a order came way to late around 2021.
government could have sped up the order for mk1a or mk1 early they didn't, HAL can't just order engines without confirmation of orders.
> If GE was purposely delaying engine deliveries like HAL claims, then they should have dragged GE to court for breaking the rules of the original agreement.
Whether it is purposeful or not, but it's a fact that delivery of engines have been delayed. HAL placed 99 orders for GE404 in 2021 and GE delivered 5 in 2025 against the promise of 12 engines. They already delayed the engine delivery by 2 years, since the earlier promise was for 2023
<GE Aerospace has informed the Indian government that it will commence delivery of F404-IN20 engines for the TEJAS MK-1A by April 2025, which is two years behind the initial schedule. The original delivery was scheduled to start in March 2023.
quote.
now there were reports of penalties invoked by GOI, but later it was removed from the news cycle and government said it is between HAL and GE, i think they chickened out or whatever. but GE promised that first they will deliver 12 engines in 2025 after that 2 engines per month. this was after the news of penalty.
so there's clearly delay of 2 years, from 2023 to 2025, even in 2025 they have only delivered 5 against 12 promised.
Mk1a depends on these engines, some of them were on older backup engines - in between IAF had asked for additional tweaks which HAL carried out. for all things considered HAL will delivery 5 mk1a by march 2026.
GE has given excuse of production issues which is well established so you can search if you have issues with that. it's not hogwash or anything don't comment if you don't have any knowledge about issues.
>why it was chosen for amca
design of amca was already conceptualized by 2015, aircrafts obviously revolve around the engine and that time GE414 was thought to be the usual choice. though there's going to be AMCA mk2 with indigenous engines based on the work of safran and gtre.
another thing you are forgetting or not telling is that hal isn't designing, it's a production partner for tejas aircrafts, its the ADA which is doing the R&D.

so it was only mistake of IAF/MOD they should have placed the order of tejas mk1 foc variants atleast two squadrons and speed up the process for mk1a they didn't.
GE's fault is that clearly they failed at the promises 2023 to 2025 then not even meeting target for 2025.
HAL has limited blames here.

all that aside, related to OP's topic another thing to note that IAF is like that jiddi child which would spoil his own food if they can't that candy in the store.
they had flankers, they could have initiated the Super Sukhoi program which would have made flankers on par or superior to rafales but they are import addicts.
they also lead pakistanis have edge in BVR, AWACs so on. iaf is myopic spoiled child. follow any iaf veteran you can see they are addicted to imports. they have no vision.

They aren't very competent as well. I haven't seen such horrifying figures in any other airforce.

this is classic playing with stats, i could have used worst words for IAF but since it's /k/ i avoided.
now coming to the topic of crashes, we have to remember that IAF has operated mig21 for almost 6 decades.
mig21 was pushed beyond its service life in many cases, iterated upon. when you check or compare the stats with any other fighter jet which has operated you will see thousands of crashes etc. in 6 decades - pic related redditors trying to make f35 seem good showcase F16 700+ crashes alone.
and usa generally has better upgradability and isn't operating aircrafts for 6 decades alone like IAF has.
another small but major reason for mig21 crash, it's one of the bloody difficult aircraft without any FBW system going supersonic like a rocket. iaf didn't have intermediate jet trainers so newbies went from prop to sub sonic then complete supersonic missiles cum aircraft like migs.
if there's any learning from this stat is this
>IAF stretched mig21 operations beyond its limits
>should have funded replacement earlier as it could
>lack of IJT was an issue

> USA isn't operating aircraft for 6 decades like IAF
not true though, the last B-52 was made in 1962. It's still in service today. So the whole of USAF B52 fleet is more than 5 decades old. Even they've seen a fair amount of crashes/ accidents though.

please don't do gotcha tier discussions,. i was aware you are going to do that.
b52 is multi engine aircraft, sub sonic long range bomber even that has 100s of losses. and it's not even remotely comparable to mig21.
and then there's whole maintenance aspect, where you would expect america to have upper hand we don't have how much engines they are replacing etc.
overall in 6 decades usa has lost thousands of aircrafts.
