In the era of LLMs, why don't we have our own OS, Firewall, and digital eco system, etc., like the chinese?
We clearly have the ability to write hard, bare metal code as evidenced by our missile systems, weapons and space programs. What gives?
I'm a tech luddite, but the recently made "india fatigue" video got me interested on this subject.

the question is why? Every administration has known about the gr8 brain drain happening since the 80s, so why hasn't anyone done anything? Sure, one may claim that theoretical scientist types are better off leaving the country as they ain't going to add value to economy, but I suspect the it's the economic drivers who've left en masse

you are basically depending upon bunch of unpaid trannies when you use Linux, most importantly you must understand that Linux is just a kernel, not a complete OS, to make it fully functional, real world software developers have to work on it example - android, steamOS

highly disagree. If someone like me who just uses computer for basic shit like 99% of the other people and even I can find it problematic trying to keep up with hardware reqs, then it sure as hell is headache for other avg joes, especially in not so well off countries like India
